How to Schedule a Free USPS Package Pickup Right At Your Front Door

Shipping labels are FUN and they save you a boatload of money.   Postage is always significantly cheaper when you pay online so why stand in line at the post office?

The first step in having your packages pick-up at your front door by USPS is to purchase and print your shipping label.  Box up your item to be shipped, power up your printer and head into to print out your shipping label. Let’s go Joe!

What you will need: 

  • Your Computer
  • A scale
  • Your item to ship (packaged up)
  • A tape measure or ruler
  • Printer paper or printer labels

~ Go to and click on your Shop Manager.

~ Click on Orders and Shipping in the left corner of the screen.

~ In your new order click on Get Shipping Label (icon of a moving van) in your new order.

~ Next, you need to measure your package height, weight, and length.  Adjust your package dimensions in your shipping dialog box if needed.  You will notice your shipping price may change as you adjust these numbers.


~ With a shipping scale weigh your package. Adjust package pounds and ounces in the dialog box as needed.

~ Scroll over and up to the top right corner of the screen and click Confirm and Buy.

~Your new label will appear on the screen so you can print away.

TIP 1:  If you don’t purchase self-sticking printing labels its ok. You can print on plain paper and tape the label right to your box.  I find it much easier to print with shipping labels as it saves time and money on packing tape but that, of course, is all up to you. I love ordering my labels on cyber Monday off Amazon.  I get better deals on Cyber Monday.  Order in bulk if you find a great price.

TIP 2: As a rule, I ALWAYS put a piece of packing tape over the tracking barcode on the shipping label.  I do this for one main reason, to make sure the postal carrier can read where the package is being shipped too.

My experience: I had a customer receive an item of mine very late, I’m talking two weeks after I mailed it to her.  Why?  Because the shipping label got wet during shipping and they were unable to read the address as it was torn and wet.  By taping the tracking barcode the postal carrier can easily get the “ship to” and “ship from” address in a snap with this barcode.

Cost: What kind of cost is this extra step for me?  The cost is simply one small 5-inch strip of packing tape per package.  For me, this small cost is worth the piece of mind it gives that the package will be delivered on time.
